HP The Atlas Consortium

Client: The Atlas consortium is comprised of five partner organisations: HP, Fujitsu, General Dynamics, EDS Defence & Security Systems and Logica. The consortium was formed specially to deliver DII [Defence Information Infrastructure] - the largest IT system in Europe. Having achieved HP approved supplier status following a rigorous selection and approval process, bd2 has worked on a number of high profile and complex projects for the MoD through Atlas partner HP, working within their formal procurement and (strict approval processes.)

Solution: The project covered the rationalisation of content, copywriting, design [content structure, format and graphics] and production of the Atlas pocketbook including the design of a bespoke polypropylene ring binder with clasp closure. The binder contains multiple sections with tabbed dividers and over 80 pages of content with text, images and diagrams. The Pocketbook provides all ATLAS employees assigned to the MOD account contract with a detailed and unique point of reference and clear understanding of the Consortium's aims in supporting the MOD's IT infrastructure. It acts as the bible for new employees who need to understand the account service goals, delivery expectations, relationship management and departmental hierarchy. We also managed the print production and logistics management, including desk drop delivery to multiple sites.

Milliken Dreamscapes

Client: American owned Milliken Group is the world's largest privately owned textile and chemicals company. From their factory in Wigan they manufacture high quality modular carpet for commercial applications. Milliken commissioned bd2 to develop a brand identity and a marketing campaign, including all marcomms, for the 'Dreamscapes' carpet range targeted specifically at the 3-4 star travel hotel market.

Solution: Brand image development and application across the product range brochure, based on half canadian-wiro roll fold format with roomset photography, presented in a slip case and incorporating a CD-ROM [layout composer]. A product Presentation case, with paper over board with pre-formed sample trays was also produced and an interactive product microsite. The project included the production and art direction of all photography with roomsets.

HP Ericsson

Client: HP are one of the world's largest technology businesses with revenues in excess of $100 Billion. Their business to business services include the provision of outsourced IT solutions to various large organisations including Ericsson. HP's Ericsson account is valued at $1.8 Billion as a 5 year contract and employs over 1000 people globally, predominantly working within Ericsson facilities as in-house teams. bd2 became an approved supplier to HP in 2009 working initially within the MoD account. One of our MoD projects was identified by the Ericsson management team in Sweden with a similar requirement.

Solution: The design, rationalisation of content, copywriting and production of the HP/Ericsson Account Handbook including the design of a bespoke paper over board ring binder with magnetic clasp closure. The document outlines account service goals, delivery expectations, relationship management and departmental hierarchy. bd2 needed to firstly understand the content and then it's context in order to most logically present often detailed and complicated information. We also managed the print production and delivery logistics.

Paramount Print

Client: Paramount Print Group, one of Manchester's leading off-set litho printers, provide a full range of print, finishing and logistics solutions for Agencies and direct clients of all sizes from their best of breed B2 Heidleberg presses. Paramount commissioned bd2 to design a corporate overview brochure targeted at creative agencies.

The solution: The stylish 12 page brochure is in a square format incorporating wrap around cover and a pocket for a complimentary 8 page environmental brochure and series of adaptable 2 page case studies. The layouts make bold use of commissioned photography and strong colour blocks which house key statements as direct quotes and brief overviews of each key area. bd2 also wrote all the copy, strapline and commissioned photography including a stylish cover shot with a die cut area to expose the colours inside. Given that Paramount deal with many of Manchester's leading agencies, we were delighted to be the one they selected to use for their own marketing materials. We also built a corporate site following the same design criteria.

Milliken In Your Image

Solution: 'In your image' depicts numerous installations and a series of key messages and statements. The 48 page 300mm square format, which gives the document real presence, features strong photography, generous use of white space, small pattern details or supplementory images within a grid based layout. The cover uses a large silver foil blocked square to literally convey the title as it reflects 'your image'. The project was won against a major London Agency.

Solution: Design, copywriting and production of 'Hotwire' internal monthly newsletter/magazine, a 16 page document with various articles and features. Design including masthead and a fresh, involving layout and the provision of master templates to HP for internal production.

Qurius Parkvision

Client: Qurius UK, part of the pan-European Qurius Group, has developed a bespoke version of the leading Microsoft business management solution Dynamics, for the holiday parks sector. The product is branded as 'Parkvision' and has quickly become a market leader in this niche.

Qurius attended 'The Lawns' as the key trade event in the sector and we designed this pre-mailer invite to the Qurius stand, which is actually a marquee as the event is held outside. The mailer summarises the key benefits of the product, with an emphasis on the rapid 'return on investment' it delivers. This innovative and personalised mailer includes a bepsoke boomerang to illustrate this key point supported by the strapline 'giving you a great return'. A limited number of 30 were sent out to key targets, of which 28 responded.

Vision Commercial Kitchens

Client: Vision Commercial Kitchens provide a complete commercial kitchen fitout solution throughout the UK from initial design, equipment specification and supply through to project management, installation and after sales service. Their clients range from some of the most prestigious hotels and restaurants, such as Heston Blumenthal's 'Dinner' at The Mandarin Oriental, to the public sector and various vertical markets including garden centres and care homes.

Solution: bd2 has provided an outsourced marketing function for Vision Commercial Kitchens since they started up in 2002. In that period the company has grown from 4 to over 20 people and achieved an annual turnover in excess of £7M. A key plank of the marketing strategy has been the ongoing creation of case studies which has built into a library of relevant examples used very successfully to support sales. When each project is completed we arrange to interview and then photograph the project which we then copywrite and collate into this standardised format.
