Orbium provide a range of specialist services to source and supply furniture for a variety of corporate and leisure environments. Having created a new brand identity for Orbium, we have extended the overall brand theme into a new website with a very stylish interface. The site has been developed around our CMS to create a site in which all content including categories, case studies, images, corporate information, news are updated inhouse.

Our focus, when designing any website interface, is on users with a strong emphasis on ease of accessibility and effective navigation. We increase adoption through trial and evolution of the site before launch and, as brand developers ourselves, we understand the principles of building brands through consistency and work within your brand guidelines to build recognition.

The way a user interacts with a website is inevitably led by the interface itself, which is a key element of a successful website design. Usability, interaction, communication, personalisation and design values are all critical factors to consider and they will detemine how users will respond to the site. As people use the internet ever more frequently and subsequently become more sophisticated users, they establish their own preferences based on intuition and experience. These preferences need full consideration during the design process to create a user-friendly site which delivers information, communicates brand values and enhances the profile of the site.

Your Company's reputation, customer loyalty and repeat visits are built on positive user experiences. With websites, in particular, it is very easy for people to 'click' to an alternative if a site is difficult to navigate or doesn't meet their needs.

As the user experience will ultimately determine the success or failure of the site, it must be at the centre of creative thinking throughout the site's development. This is best achieved by involving users from the outset rather than waiting until the end to start usability testing and throughout the development process.

At bd2, we have developed and refined our processes, used as appropriate to the project, to achieve this involvement and gain approval; from comprehensive storyboards; sophisticated 3D site mapping tools; active page multipath models; and beta versions. User input is achieved through a combination of exploration workshops, focus groups and online testing of beta versions. We have also recruited an experienced project manager to coordinate our internal teams of developers and designers and to liaise with our clients.

We also believe that it's crucial that technical and creative teams work closely together to understand each other's perspectives. To that end, we have all professional resources under one roof, to establish strong working relationships and to feed off each other's abilities during each phase of the process. This ensures that both design and function combine to create visually and technically effective sites. Our team includes the 'best of breed' skills of the Chartered Designer, Chartered Marketer, Microsoft Certified Developer and Prince 2 Certified Project Manager
